Aethalion reticulatum (Linnaeus, 1767) (Hemiptera: Aethalionidae) in Grevillea robusta PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Santana, Dalva Luiz de Queiroz; Ferreira, Carlos Alberto; Martins, Emerson Gonçalves; Silva, Helton Damin da.
The grevilea, Grevillea robusta (Cunn), species of the  Proteaceae family, native of Australia it was introduced in Brazil and in several other countries of the world, for ornamentation, wind breaks and to shade agricultural  crops. In general the grevilea has few pests in its area of natural dispersion and also in Brazil. Recently a severe infestation of the cicada Aethalion reticulatum (Hemiptera: Aethalionidae) was verified in experimental plantings of  grevilea’s plantation in São Miguel Arcanjo, SP. This is the first verification of A. reticulatum causing damages to G. robusta. A. reticulatum is an sap sucking insect and the damages in grevilea are similar to the observed in fruit  plants.

Neste...

Equations for calculation of volume and weight of aerial compartiments of eight-year-old Grevillea robusta (Cunn.) trees PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Ferreira, Carlos Alberto; Martins, Emerson Gonçalves; Silva, Helton Damin da.
This paper presents results obtained for fitting equations to estimate volume and weight of aerial compartments of Grevillea robusta trees. Twelve trees representing four provenances were collected from an eight-year-old provenance trial located in the municipality of Anhembi, State of São Paulo. The trunks of the trees were segmented until the minimum diameter of 5 cm. The heartwood was measured till the height it was possible to be distinguished in the tree. Allometric models were the most suitable for this paper proposes. The inclusion of the combined variable (total height multiplied by the diameter at breast height) contributed to a better adjustment of most equations. The standard errors of the estimates were relatively high for heartwood and bark...

Equations for estimating biomass of aereal compartementes of Eucalyptus benthamii PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Silva, Helton Damin da; Ferreira, Carlos Alberto; Corrêa, Robson Schaff; Bellote, Antonio Francisco Jurado; Tussolini, Elson Luiz.
This paper presents the results of the adjustment of equations for estimating biomass of aerial compartments of Eucalyptus benthamii trees. The percentile allocation of biomass, in the compartments wood, bark, leaves and branches is also presented. The trees of Eucalyptus benthamii were sampled from stands of 12, 24, 36 and 48 months of age, planted at the spacing 3 m x 2 m, in the region of Guarapuava-PR. For the compartments considered, the generalized logarithmic model gave better indices of adjustment for branches and, together with logarithmic combined variable, the minor error for bark variable. Leaves and wood had minor error with model lnY=b0 +b1*lnDBH and logarithmic combined variable, respectively. The allocation of biomass in the different...

Evaluation and genetic progress in volume of grevilea provenances at three different environment PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Martins, Emerson Gonçalves; Neves, Edinelson José Maciel; Shimizu, Jarbas Yukio; Ferreira, Carlos Alberto.
Twenty one provenances of Grevillea robusta Cunn were tested at Nova Esperança and Quedas do Iguaçu, Paraná state and Anhembi, São Paulo state, Brazil. With the aim of comparing the performance of the original provenances with the comercial provenance collected in Maringa, Paraná state included as a control. Provenance trials were installed in a randomized block design with rectangular plots, each one with six plants spaced 3 m x 3 m, with 15 replications. Five among the ten best provenances at Anhembi presented better growth at Quedas do Iguaçu and Nova Esperança (Duck Creek, Fine Flower, Rappville, Bottle Creek and Mc Pherson’s Creek). Different environments did not interfere significantly in the average growth among different provenances indicating that...

Phosphate and potash fertilization on Acacia mearnsii De Wild. (Black wattle) plantation. PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Andrade, Guilherme de Castro; Bellote, Antonio Francisco Jurado; Ferreira, Carlos Alberto; Silva, Helton Damin da.
Acacia mearnsii is the third forest species more planted in Brazil, especially in small farms at Rio Grande do Sul State. The species is also known as black wattle and is important as a source of tannin, timber, pulpwood and rayon. Its fast growth results in high demand of nutrients and fertilization is necessary to keep site productivity. In this paper it is reported the results of the application of four doses of Phosphorous (0, 20, 40, 80g/tree as P2O5) and three of Potassium (0, 20, 40g/tree as K2O), in a factorial designed trial established on a chemically poor soil at the region of Ponta Grossa, State of Paraná, Brazil. Trees were implanted in a 3m X 2m spacing with 35 plants per plot. The fertilizers were applied in furrows between the rows at the...

Prognosis of the Volume Growth of Eucalypts Trees, in Plantations, in the Southern Region of Brazil PFB - Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira
Ferrari, Marcio Pinheiro; Ferreira, Carlos Alberto; Silva, Helton Damin da; Trevisan, Roberto.
This paper deals with the prognosis of the individual volumetric growth of Eucalyptus species in the Brazilian South Region. It was accomplished in a fertilizer trial with Eucalyptus dunnii and a competition trial among species (E. bicostata, E. “cambiju” - natural hybrid, E. deanei and E. viminalis) implanted in Vila Velha, PR. The method of successive regressions, modified to the exponential form, including the volume at three years of age and survival was applied. The results gave evidence of acceptable efficiency of the method to estimate individual volumetric growth of the trees of the stands, especially for E. deanei and E. dunnii, species well adapted to the region. However, species with low growth potential, for example E. bicostata, presented low...
